Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai has confirmed that Waluigi won’t make an appearance as a playable character within the new Super Smash Bros. titles.
Instead, the comedic Mushroom Kingdom villain will join WarioWare’s Ashley and Majora’s Mask’s Skull Kid as an Assist Trophy, items that summon Nintendo characters to aid whoever collects and throws them to the ground first.
“Once again, Waluigi’s Assist Trophy joins the collection!! …Which also means he’s not a playable character,” Sakurai revealed through Miiverse. “Just because you try hard doesn’t mean you’ll make it into the battle.”
