SEGA has confirmed a release date for Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. on Nintendo Switch 2, which it pitches as “the ultimate remaster of the classic 3D fighter.”
Featuring cross-play support with PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam, and rollback netcode, you can battle through classic modes like Arcade or Rank Match, create your own custom online tournaments and leagues with up to 16 players, or learn from the best in Spectator Mode.
There will be a Nintendo Switch 2 Open Beta Test starting on 18 February 2026, which will “focus on the network servers and cross-play performance for the game with the other available platforms.” Those who want to play will require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to access.
The publisher has also announced that digital and physical pre-orders are now available. Those who purchase any Nintendo Switch 2 copy (digital or physical) will receive the SEGA Hardware Customization Item “Genesis,” an in-game digital customisation item that can be equipped by all 19 base characters in the game.
Digitally, there will be a standard edition ($19.99) and a 30th Anniversary Edition ($49.99) that will unlock the following:
- Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage base game
- Legendary Pack DLC
- Yakuza Series Collaboration Pack DLC
- Virtua Fighter 30th Anniversary Swimsuit Costume Set, Soundtrack Collection, and Ranking Titles
- Virtua Fighter Pre-Production Artwork
The physical edition ($49.99) will have a game-key card that grants access to the same content as the 30th Anniversary Edition, and comes with a double-sided poster that features the cover art from Virtual Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage on one side and the cover art from the original Virtua Fighter on the other.
Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. will be released digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 on 26 March 2026.
