We’re used to rushing across Super Smash Bros. stages for the aid lent by whichever Pokémon is randomly housed within Poké Balls, and creator Masahiro Sakurai has discussed how Victini and Xerneas will benefit brawlers.

We now have Master Balls to hurl around allowing access to Legendary Pokémon, and creator Masahiro Sakurai has discussed how Victini and Xerneas will benefit brawlers.

Victini will put into play a Victory Star, temporarily boosting the attack of whoever threw the Master Ball while preventing flinching. While Xerneas will cast Geomancy to increase the launch power of all fighters, but more significantly for whoever chucked the Master Ball.

“Victini and Xerneas are both support Pokémon. Victini’s Victory Star boosts the attack of whoever throws the Poké Ball, and also prevents flinching,” Sakurai wrote on Miiverse. “Xerneas’s Geomancy increases the launch power of all fighters, but exceptionally raises it for whoever had the Poké Ball.”

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS launches across Europe and North America on October 3rd, with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U releasing later this year.
