NACON and Big Bad Wolf have shared a gameplay reveal trailer for Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong, which is coming to Nintendo Switch.

Hazel Iversen – the Swan – has become the new Prince of the Boston Camarilla. Known to deliver an iron hand in a velvet glove, she looks to assert her power and enforce the Masquerade – the vampiric law that was created to make sure that humans never learn about her kind. However, as rumours of betrayal, murder and power struggles reach fever pitch, you must work in the shadows to protect your Sect as the city of Boston descends into chaos.

After mysterious assassins attack the Boston Camarilla, Hazel tasks Galeb Bazory, Emem Louis and Leysha with learning the identity and motives behind the large-scale attack. The orders are simple: infiltrate, investigate and get answers, using supernatural powers if necessary. You will have the chance to visit locations where you must search for precious clues, solve puzzles and interact with characters to progress within the game.

Each hero has a character sheet that you can fully customise, potentially choosing to be an expert in speech and persuasion to dominate others or to develop your technology skills so that you can hack computers and locks.

They also have their own vampire powers, which are referred to as Disciplines. Leysha can Obfuscate to conceal her presence, Emem can use Celerity to reach otherwise inaccessible locations and Galeb can make others his puppet using Domination.

When confronted with trickier characters, you may trigger a Confrontation. These are described as being “combat in the form of dialogue in which the player has to find the right arguments and use Skills and Disciplines to convince the other person to reveal their secrets.”

Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong will release digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in 2022.
