It isn’t uncommon for games released in Japan not to make their way across to North America or Europe, yet Nintendo CEO and President Satoru Iwata has hinted that this may be about to change – having comments that the company is localising the games and testing their potential for overseas success.
“Some software has already proved its marketability in Japan but is still not available in the overseas’ markets, and for some software titles, our localization teams are currently spending time to localize them,” Iwata stated during an investors briefing.
Whilst Nintendo are to begin to shift their focus to backing their 3DS handheld, the publisher is keen to ensure that they are providing games for DS owners who don’t wish to upgrade initially.
