Merge Games and Prospect Games have announced that Unbox: Newbie’s Adventure will see release on Nintendo Switch next week.

The cardboard-based platformer has seen the Global Postal Service save themselves from bankruptcy by creating living boxes that can deliver themselves to customers all over the world, reducing the money that they need to pay staff.

As their latest creation, Newbie, it is your job to complete the test islands to prove your worth as a sentient, self-delivering package – an adventure that will see you bounce and roll through mountains and islands, to take on challenges in which you will race against the clock, solve puzzles, and generally cause mayhem.

The boxes can “Unbox” to jump in mid-air, shedding a cardboard layer each time and shrinking in size. Customisation options will let you dress in anything from sunglasses to a fez hat, with retro-inspired local multiplayer seeing others join in with split-screen.

Those that buy the game on the Nintendo eShop between Wednesday 11th – Wednesday 18th October can receive a 10 percent discount to celebrate launch week.

Unbox: Newbie’s Adventure will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on October 11th priced at £24.99 (€29.99/$29.99), with a physical edition to arrive in retailers on November 16th.
