Ubisoft unveil two Smurfs titles for Wii and Nintendo DS

Ubisoft have announced that they are set to release The Smurfs Dance Party, a new dance video game based upon Sony Pictures Animation’s forthcoming 3D family comedy.

Promising to mix chart-topping tracks with over twenty fun dances created by professional choreographers, kids and parents are invited to dance along with their favourite characters from The Smurfs film including Smurfette, Papa Smurf, Clumsy, Brainy, Gutsy and even Gargamel. A broad selection of musical genres also features, including Pop, R&B, Rock and Punk, with each track accommodating up to four dancers in party mode.

Further to this, a Smurfs-themed video game will also be available on the Nintendo DS. In this version, players can play fun, interactive mini-games that include cake decoration, dress-up with Smurfette or play in the Smurf Symphony, as well as being able to read-along and interact with stories based on The Smurfs movie.

Ubisoft’s partnership with Sony Pictures Animation in developing The Smurfs games marks the fourth collaboration in a successful relationship, previously bringing top-selling titles based upon Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Open Season and Surf’s Up.

Both The Smurfs for Nintendo DS and The Smurfs Dance Party for Wii are due to release in July 2011.
