This week at E3 2019, Ubisoft revealed Gods and Monsters to the world – resulting in immediate comparison to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Ubisoft Québec has found these “flattering,” but has assured that their open-world action-adventure game will be far different to Link’s adventure.

“It’s flattering that we can be compared to that, but from a storytelling point of view it’s going to be a very unique adventure,” creative director Jonathan Dumont explained to Kotaku.

“The abilities will change, as well as the scope of how it blows up. It is influenced a lot more by Odyssey in that sense mechanically. The fact that we can choose and create our own character and customize it as well, there’s quite a bit that will make it its own.”

In Gods and Monsters, you play as Fenyx – a forgotten hero on a quest to restore power to the Greek gods after it was stolen by Typhon, the deadliest creature in Greek mythology.

This will see you explore the Isle of the Blessed, where you must prove your heroism as you take on dangerous mythological creatures such as Gorgons, Harpies, and Cyclopes.

Fenyx has been gifted with special powers from the gods of Olympus, which you must use to overcome treacherous dungeons, challenging trials, and perform heroic feats on your quest to save the gods.

Gods and Monsters will release for Nintendo Switch on 25th February 2020.
