Tripping won’t return to Super Smash Bros. Wii U

Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai has confirmed that ‘tripping’ will not be making a return within either the anticipated Wii U or Nintendo 3DS instalments.

The mechanic, first introduced in Super Smash Bros. Brawl on Wii, saw players risk their character trip, fall over or sit down with a confused expression whenever they dash or turn whilst running.

Intended to stop excessive dashing or pivoting, it regrettably saw characters trip when they used particular items, forward smash or side special moves.

“To answer quite frankly, it will not return,” explained to Kotaku.

Welcome news, indeed.
