Modus Games and Frozenbyte have released the first developer diary for Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince.

This offers a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming puzzle-platformer, as well as the developer reflecting on the decisions that they have made while creating the Trine series, and how they have looked to redirect it for the future.

After years spent apart, Amadeus, Pontius, and Zoya are reunited when the Astral Academy requests their help to find Prince Selius. His dark nightmares have started to become reality, wreaking havoc upon the world.

Returning to the 2.5D puzzle-platforming gameplay seen in Trine Enchanted Edition and Trine 2: Complete Story, the three heroes will need to solve physics-based puzzles and topple epic bosses as they explore magical fairytale landscapes.

With an enriched combat system and new skills to unlock, there’s also the chance to play co-operatively with up to four players in local or online multiplayer.

Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in Autumn 2019.
