Atari and Digital Eclipse have announced that Toy Story 3 Complete Edition is in development for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.
This sees the developer bring the “definitive version” of 2010’s Toy Story 3 to modern platforms for the first time. Inspired by the Academy Award-winning film, the remaster will include content that was originally exclusive to the PlayStation 3 version and enhancements with upgraded visuals, higher resolutions and improved performance.
The game is remembered for its Toy Box Mode, an open-world sandbox that lets you customise the environment and characters with non-linear missions rewarding you with the chance to unlock new toys, vehicles and characters from other Pixar movies.
“With Toy Story: Retro Roundup! and Toy Story 3 Complete Edition, classic Toy Story games have been reborn for fans as only Digital Eclipse is capable, with games carefully updated for modern platforms and supported by bonus content that takes you behind the scenes,” explains Atari vice president of games Ethan Stearns.
Digital Eclipse’s Mike Mika adds: “We’re excited for players to jump back into Toy Story 3 and experience the creativity, humor and heart that makes Toy Story such a landmark franchise. Toy Story 3 is celebrated as one of the great movie-to-game adaptations ever made, and it has been an absolute pleasure to rediscover.”
The publisher has outlined the game’s key features, which include:
- Relive the adventure in Story Mode: Journey through locations, from Andy’s Room to Sunnyside Daycare, as Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie embark on an action-packed adventure.
- Dynamic gameplay with co-op and character swapping: Switch characters on the fly to use each character’s unique abilities to overcome challenges. Team up with a friend in a local co-op.
- Explore, create, and play in Toy Box Mode: Step into a vibrant Wild West town inspired by Woody’s Roundup. Take on missions, unlock new content, and complete rewarding missions.
- Fun for all ages: Accessible controls, light platforming and open-ended gameplay provide a creative, low-pressure experience for new players, while still offering depth and charm for longtime fans.
- Enhancements: Up to 4K resolution and 60 frames per second on supported platforms.
Toy Story 3 Complete Edition will be released digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch worldwide on 15 October 2026. There will be a physical edition that bundles Toy Story: Retro Roundup! and Toy Story 3 Complete Edition released on the same day for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.
