Pingle Studio and Sandman Team have announced that Through The Nightmares is coming to Nintendo Switch.
When a corrupted deity called Morpheus imprisons innocent children within an endless nightmare, Sandman, a guardian spirit who brings peaceful sleep, must journey into a surreal, perilous dream world to rescue them.
Promising “a ruthless, precision-driven platforming experience,” you will be challenged to overcome more than 45 levels across three chapters of the game’s narrative. Each nightmare is a childhood fear brought to life, such as creatures lurking in dark forests or monsters hiding beneath beds.
Sandman has the ability to change his size, which directly impacts the game’s physics – whether that be altering your momentum, jump arcs or the way you navigate obstacles, traps and secret pathways.
The publisher has outlined the game’s key features, which include:
- Size-Shifting Platforming: Change your size to squeeze through tight spaces, manipulate traps, and discover hidden shortcuts.
- Challenge-Driven Gameplay: Enjoy ruthless precision platforming with instant respawns and a unique checkpoint system that lets you control where you respawn by using a collectible item.
- Handcrafted Dreamscapes: Explore dozens of handcrafted levels across three chapters and six different locations based on Nordic folklore, modern-day suburbia, and medieval ruins.
- Reactive Environments: Manipulate the dreamscape with Sandman’s abilities to open up new pathways, discover secrets, and solve tricky challenges.
- Narrative-Driven Collectibles: Collect personal items from each nightmare to learn more about the children’s past, reveal the deeper story, and piece together the truth of what happened to Morpheus.
- Immersive Visuals and Haunting Soundtrack: Nightmare dreamscapes are brought to life with striking low-poly art and a haunting original score.
Through The Nightmares will be released digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in June 2025.
