Dovetail Games and Mattel have announced that Thomas & Friends: Wonders of Sodor is in development for Nintendo Switch.
This standalone narrative adventure game has looked to “bring the magic of the beloved television show Thomas & Friends into players’ hands with eight unique adventures inspired by the original stories of the show.”
With narration from one of the series’ original narrators, Mark Moraghan, you will have the chance to work alongside Thomas, Diesel, Emily, Gordon and Percy on the Island of Sodor, where you can run locomotives from Vicarstown to Knapford, freely explore the island, or tackle puzzles such as the shunting Truck Challenge.
There will also be a Thomas & Friends: Wonders of Sodor Deluxe Edition, which will add James as a playable character and four additional adventures around the Island of Sodor.
The developer has outlined the game’s key features, which include:
- Join Thomas, Diesel, Gordon, Percy, and Emily for some railway adventures in their home, the Island of Sodor
- You can play four different ways:
- Stories – A selection of stories focusing on the different characters, based on original stories.
- Mini Game – Can you master the Shunting Challenge?
- Timetable – Run trains on normal days up and down the line, doing what the trains do every day.
- Free Roam – A more creative mode that lets you place trains and do anything you like with them.
- On your adventures…
- Look out for hidden collectables
- Visit iconic locations such as Gordon’s Hill, Tidmouth Sheds and the Windmill
- Hurry, hurry, hurry along the North Western Main Line from Knapford to Vicarstown
- And Peep peep along Thomas’ branch line from Tidmouth to Ffarquhar
Thomas & Friends: Wonders of Sodor will be released at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide, with a release date or window unspecified.
