Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy receives Japan release date

Square Enix have announced that Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy will release for Nintendo 3DS in Japan on February 16th.

The game sees players tasked with tapping the touchscreen in response to on-screen prompts to make their way through iconic locations across the series’ history.

Additional characters have also been revealed, as well as the ability to use summons such as Odin and Bahamut during battles. Newly announced characters, which must be unlocked by collecting Crystal Fragments, are as follows:

* Final Fantasy I: Princess Sara
* Final Fantasy III: Cid
* Final Fantasy V: Faris
* Final Fantasy VII: Aerith
* Final Fantasy IX: Vivi
* Final Fantasy XI: Prishe
* Final Fantasy XIII: Snow
