Square Enix’s Legacy of Music video series continues by taking a look at the music that accompanied their Final Fantasy games when the 16-bit era dawned.
That heralded Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy V, Final Fantasy VI and Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, classic melodies plucked their beloved soundtracks each present within Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call. That music, penned by Nobuo Uematsu, includes Theme of Love, Clash on the Big Bridge, and Dancing Mad.
It was Final Fantasy IV that first introduced the Active Time Battle (ATB) system, a landmark moment for the series that saw players selecting commands for their party in more realtime-orientated encounters. Spin-off Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, known as Mystic Quest Legend throughout PAL regions, was a simplified RPG that Square Enix hoped would help introduce newcomers to the genre. Initially released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), it graced the Virtual Console service worldwide on Wii in 2010 and more recently in Japan on Wii U.
Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call will release exclusively for 3DS across North America on September 16th, and Europe on September 19th.
