Team17 and Sengi Games have confirmed a release date for The Serpent Rogue, which is coming soon to Nintendo Switch.
This action-adventure game has been “built around exploring a medieval fantasy world, mastering the art of alchemy, and taming wild creatures.” You play as the Warden, a mysterious alchemist who must climb Mount Morbus to confront The Serpent Rogue whose Corruption threatens to overwhelm the realm.
Your goal is to restore balance to the natural order of the world, exploring every nook and cranny of the map to unearth secret passages and gain the knowledge required to topple your enemies. With a heavy focus on crafting and experimentation, you must use your alchemy skills to transform or create situations from which you can gain an advantage.
However, your actions can create sequences of cause and effect. Whether that be gathering too many items in one location attracting plague-spreading vermin or forgetting to bury the perished ones drawing the attention of corpse-eating ghouls, there is much that you will need to overcome.
The publisher has outlined the game’s features as below:
- Sandbox roguelike: Explore the mysterious world of The Serpent Rogue; locations and items are randomised by storms that sweep the land
- Permutations aplenty: Utilise the magic and crafting of alchemy to create new tactics to overcome the many threats and situations created by the Corruption
- Cause and effect: The Warden’s actions have consequences that can be used to their advantage; but will they become the hero of the tale… or the villain?
The Serpent Rogue will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 26th April 2022.
