Japan’s Weekly Famitsu recently had chance to interview The Pokémon Company’s president and CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara, taking the chance to talk about Pokémon Shuffle, Pokkén Tournament, Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon, and what the future holds.
That notably saw Ishihara mention Nintendo’s NX for the first time, to which he shared that they will carry forward services such as Pokémon Global Link and Pokémon Bank on the “dedicated game platform” and other future systems. By improving such cloud services, Ishihara’s desire is that players can more easily use their Pokémon in any game and then return them to the cloud once they have finished. However beyond this, they are apparently still brainstorming ideas.
He reconfirmed that Pokémon Shuffle has been downloaded by more than five million players worldwide, and their decision to launch Pokémon Shuffle Mobile has allowed them to attract a more adult demographic.
Meanwhile Pokkén Tournament is targeting a worldwide release in spring 2016, with Ishihara hoping that those that learn the brawler’s intricacies at home on Wii U may be encouraged to take part in arcade tournaments.
He sees Spike Chunsoft’s Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon as a culmination of every game that has come before it, so much so that it is unclear where they can take the spin-off series next. With Mega Evolution, Legendary Pokémon and more, the developer has positioned it as the Mystery Dungeon packed with the most content.
Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon will release exclusively for Nintendo 3DS in North America on November 20th, and in Europe and Australia in early 2016.
