Nintendo has confirmed that there are no CPU or RAM upgrades that have been made to improve the internal workings of the new Nintendo Switch (OLED Model).
“Nintendo Switch (OLED model) does not have a new CPU, or more RAM, from previous Nintendo Switch models,” a Nintendo spokesperson confirmed to The Verge.
The Nintendo Switch (OLED model) will have “a similar overall size to the Nintendo Switch console, but with a larger, vibrant 7-inch OLED screen with vivid colours and high contrast,” as well as a wide adjustable stand, a dock with a wired LAN port, 64 GB of internal storage and enhanced audio.
Aside from that, as outlined in the portable home console’s technical specs, the main difference compared with the original is that the new model is slightly heavier. It weighs 0.71 pounds (320 grams) or 0.93 pounds (420 grams) with Joy-Con controllers attached, in comparison with 0.66 pounds (300 grams) or 0.88 pounds (390 grams) with Joy-Con controllers attached.
The Nintendo Switch (OLED Model) will retailers worldwide on 8th October 2021, priced at £309.99 ($349.99).
