The LEGO Movie Videogame will release alongside its theatrical counterpart next year, it has today been announced.

As with the film, for which a debut trailer has already surfaced, players find themselves in the role of Emmet, an ordinary, by-the-book, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is soon mistakenly recognised as being the key to saving the world.

You’ll collect LEGO instruction pages to build construction sets, use Master Builders to craft impressive LEGO creations, and generally aid Emmet on his underprepared quest.

“We’re thrilled to be able to give kids the joy of reliving Emmet’s adventures in becoming virtual Master Builders with The LEGO Movie Videogame,” comments TT Games Publishing’s managing director Tom Stone.

“Players will be taking on the ultimate mission to save the LEGO world and use their virtual building prowess to build unimaginable sets and creations.”

The LEGO Movie Videogame will release across Wii U and Nintendo 3DS in 2014.
