The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Retrospective Takes A Look Back

In the run up to The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD‘s launch, Nintendo has shared a four-part retrospective video series that takes a look back at the game’s development.

That results in welcome insight from series producer Eiji Aonuma, assistant director Tomomi Sano, enemy designer Yoshiyuki Oyama, dungeon designer Koji Kitagawa and script writer Aya Kyogoku, among others.

Their discussion touches on the desire to provide players with a sense of scale, while revealing “sob story mail.” These were messages sent by Shigeru Miyamoto after he had played sections of the game, which had helped to guide development but always gave Aonuma an immediate sense of urgency.

The first three episodes explore development, characters and dungeons, with the closing episode discussing how it was reborn on Wii U.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD is now available exclusively for Wii U in Europe and North America.
