Nintendo has announced The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, news that closed out today’s Nintendo Direct presentation.
This is the official name for the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which was also given a May 2023 launch date.
It was back in March 2022 that The Legend of Zelda series director Eiji Aonuma had the game’s launch window had been delayed into Spring 2023, explaining: “In order to make this game’s experience something special, the entire development team is continuing to work diligently on this game, so please wait a while longer.”
Coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch, the pitch is that “the latest entry in the storied Legend of Zelda series will take you up into the skies and an expanded world that goes beyond that!”
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will release at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 12th May 2023.
