Nintendo has confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will support amiibo, revealing a Link (Tears of the Kingdom) amiibo figure to close out this week’s Nintendo Direct presentation.
To release to coincide with the Nintendo Switch exclusive’s launch, when scanned in-game you will receive weapons and materials as well as a special fabric for Link’s paraglider (as shown in the screenshot above).
You will also be able to scan other amiibo from The Legend of Zelda series, which will also reward you with “helpful materials, weapons or a paraglider fabric based on the amiibo you scanned.” These paraglider fabrics are shown in the screenshots below.
The anticipated sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will take you across the land and skies of Hyrule, where you will once again have the chance to chart your own path through its sprawling landscapes and mysterious floating islands. You will need to harness the power of Link’s new abilities to fight against the malevolent forces threatening the kingdom.
The company also revealed plans to produce The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Edition, which will include a physical copy of the game, an artbook with concept art, a SteelBook case, an Iconart steel poster and a set of four pin badges, with a price still to be confirmed and pre-orders yet to open.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will release at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 12th May 2023.
