Yoshiaki Koizumi closed out today’s Nintendo Direct presentation with the reveal that The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening will receive a remake on Nintendo Switch.

Originally released for the Game Boy system more than 25 years ago, it remains to be one of the most beloved games in The Legend of Zelda series.

Now back with a modern re-imagining, players can once again return to the mysterious island of Koholint where they must guide Link on a perilous adventure.

“At long last, 1993’s The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening for Game Boy will finally find new life on Nintendo Switch,” Koizumi explained. “After 26 years, it has been reborn as a new experience, and we’ll have more to say in the future.”

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide in 2019.
