The Legend of Zelda for Wii U won’t be shown at E3 2015

After tonight’s news that The Legend of Zelda for Wii U will no longer be seeing a release by the end of this year, series producer Eiji Aonuma has added that Nintendo won’t be showing Link’s latest adventure at E3 2015.

“As I said in the video, we would like to take this time so we can bring you a very special experience, by making the ultimate Zelda game,” Aonuma wrote on Miiverse. “Since we’d like to focus on developing the game we’ve decided to not show the game at this year’s E3. Thank you for your continued support, and I hope you’ll look forward to the game!”

It’s an inevitable shame, after excitable chatter surrounding the game not only dominated E3 2014, but The Game Awards 2014 where social media buzz for the Wii U exclusive eclipsed Sony’s PlayStation Experience.

Nintendo will certainly need to have something impressive to fill the void…
