After a rumour emerged that a lengthy localisation process meant that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will not see release alongside Nintendo Switch, the Australian Classification Board (ACB) has issued a rating for Link’s anticipated adventure.

Their classification, which has been published today, sees the game rated Mature (M), meaning that the Classification Board believes that it contains “content of a moderate impact” and therefore it is only recommended for teenagers aged 15 years and over.

For comparison’s sake, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD were all awarded the same Mature rating.

We were captivated when we had chance to play Breath of the Wild at E3 2016, writing in our preview: “It is the small touches that allow The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to captivate so readily. Squirrels scramble up trees, lizards scurry underfoot, and blades of grass gently sway with the wind as you energetically bound across Hyrule’s open plains.”

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch and Wii U in 2017.
