Capcom held an Ace Attorney 15th anniversary stage event at Tokyo Game Show 2016 this past weekend where they announced that Dai Gyakuten Saiban 2: Naruhodō Ryūnosuke no Kakugo, or The Great Ace Attorney 2: Ryunosuke Naruhodo’s Resolution, was in development.

The first game had acted as prequel to the main Ace Attorney series, taking place in Japan’s Meiji Period and starring Phoenix Wright’s ancestor Ryūnosuke Naruhodō. Naruhodō wants to become a qualified defense attorney and travels to England with his assistant Susato Mikotoba to further his studies, encountering the world famous Sherlock Holmes with whom he immediately works with on a case.

Sadly, despite the year that has passed since launch, it hasn’t been localised for a western release, with Capcom somewhat ambiguously sharing that “certain circumstances” were preventing them from doing so.

Capcom hasn’t confirmed an expected release date for The Great Ace Attorney 2: Ryunosuke Naruhodo’s Resolution in Japan, nor which platforms it is destined for. Given Capcom’s increasing presence on Nintendo 3DS in recent years, it’s more than likely to be headed there.
