NIS America and Nippon Ichi Software have shared a new gameplay trailer for The Cruel King and the Great Hero, which is coming to Nintendo Switch next year.
This brand-new adventure has been created by Sayaka Oda, who had directed The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince.
Long ago, a brave hero battled a terrifying dragon known as the Cruel King and eventually emerged victorious from the encounter. Rather than slaying the dragon, the hero cut off one of its horns and stated that the creature must atone for its sins.
The hero spent time with the dragon as he healed, and the two became very close friends. However, years later, the hero suffered a fatal wound. Survived by his only daughter, Yuu, he asked his good friend to raise her to become a great hero, and the mighty dragon gave his word that his dying wish would be achieved.
Now watching over Yuu and serving as a protector and guide on her many adventures, such idyllic moments won’t last forever as the truth of the Cruel King’s past threatens to resurface…
Taking artistic inspiration from children’s storybooks, you will have the chance to explore charming settings, overcome monsters and puzzles, and discover a story about companionship, heroism and facing the past.
There are also hidden items scattered throughout the land to collect, that will unlock rewards in the in-game gallery – such as character profiles and behind-the-scenes illustrations.
The Cruel King and the Great Hero will release at retail and on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in February 2022.
