SEGA has announced that Team Sonic Racing will release on Nintendo Switch, the blue blur’s new racing game that the company had first teased at SXSW.

The game, which comes from Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed developer Sumo Digital, has looked to combine arcade and fast-paced competitive style racing against friends. You must race and work together as a team, sharing power-ups and speed boosts to lend your teammates an advantage.

There are 15 playable characters from the Sonic universe that are split into three character classes: Speed, Technique and Power.

With online multiplayer and local co-op modes, there can be as many as 12 players per race and four-player split-screen – with online and offline modes to include Grand Prix Mode, Exhibition Mode, Time-Trial and Team Adventure Mode.

You must race as a team to win, using team moves to help out your teammates, knock out opponents and to have the chance to unleash your Team Ultimate.

You can also use 14 Wisps that offer offensive and defensive items to help you overcome your rivals, and you can customise your car’s performance and appearance.

Team Sonic Racing will release for Nintendo Switch worldwide in Winter 2018.
