Gameloft and Old Skull Games have confirmed a release date for Nickelodeon Extreme Tennis: Next! on Nintendo Switch.
This arcade tennis experience takes inspiration from the original mobile game, but has now been “fully reimagined” for the portable home console with refined controls, enhanced gameplay depth and “premium polish.”
With iconic Nickelodeon characters plucked from the past and present, you can take to the court as SpongeBob from SpongeBob SquarePants, CatDog from CatDog, Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender, and more. Each character has been brought to life with their own personality, unique abilities and signature style, with the chance to customise your favourites with outfits and equipment.
The game “celebrates shared play” at its core, as, built for couch co-op, it has looked to capture “the wild energy of arcade sports while staying true to Nickelodeon’s playful DNA.” You will have the chance to jump into anything from fast-paced exhibition matches to chaotic arcade-style challenges with family and friends, across multiple game modes that look to keep the experience fresh while encouraging friendly competition.
“Nickelodeon Extreme Tennis: Next! is a major step forward for the franchise and a great milestone in the expansion of our publishing activities,” explains Gameloft chief sales officer Guilherme Lachaut. “In close collaboration with Old Skull Games, we helped shape a richer version of the game for console and PC players worldwide, with more robust gameplay and a strong focus on playing together.”
Old Skull Games producer Camille Decressain adds: “We wanted to create a game that’s instantly fun to pick up and exciting to play together. Bringing these iconic Nickelodeon characters into a fast-paced, social experience allowed us to focus on what matters most—shared moments, friendly competition, and pure arcade fun.”
Nickelodeon Extreme Tennis: Next! will be released at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 28 May 2026.
