Aksys Games has announced that Spooky Spirit Shooting Gallery will release on Nintendo Switch in the coming months.

Developer Nippon Columbia is behind this portable version of a popular shooting gallery game played at festivals all across Japan. You can expect three modes – including Carnival Mode and Party Mode – and an assortment of minigames for what is promised to be “a scarily fun time.”

In the Carnival Mode, you can earn tokens by carefully aiming for and shooting goodies off the shelves with either cork or silver bullets – firing non-stop to defeat the spirits that hide among them. Vanquishing them will earn you Spirit Seals, which, once you earn enough to max your Spirit Gauge, will let you proceed to the haunted house stage. Here you must repel an onslaught of spirit attacks to move deeper inside, hoping to eliminate the final boss to earn special bonus rewards.

Whereas in Party Mode, you and up to two friends – teaming up or challenging each other – can choose from 19 minigames to battle against the ghosts. After succeeding you will unlock the Spirit Stairway Challenge, where minigames await you on each stair. The higher you go, the more challenging the minigames become – spirits and bosses lurking in wait to thwart your ascent.

The publisher has outlined the game’s key features as below:

  • Blast through 24 different shooting gallery stages, each with their own special mechanics.
  • Party Mode features 15 competitive and 14 cooperative minigames to enjoy together with family and friends.
  • Encounter 33 unique and spooky spirits based on Japanese folklore!

Spooky Spirit Shooting Gallery will release at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 27th April 2023.
