Take A Look Inside The Legend Of Zelda Mystery Box

The Nintendo Official UK Store released the second in their Nintendo Mystery Box series this week, this time themed around the long-admired The Legend of Zelda series.

As with the Super Mario Box the contents remained unknown until it landed on our doorstep, suitably matching the excitement that surrounds Link opening an undiscovered treasure chest. So, it was with some trepidation that I lifted the lid.

With the accompanying jingle absent, the contents start off small with pin badges, a pen topped with a Hylian Crest, and a Triforce-emblazoned notebook. An early surprise was the Hyrule Multi-Tool, which triples up as a keyring, bottle opener, and two screwdriver sizes – for whatever reason.

But the pièce de résistance, or what The Great British Bake Off would refer to as a showstopper, is the weighty Shield Mug. The colossal addition is a peculiar shape with the Hylian Shield’s edge being entirely straight, and the mug apparently isn’t sturdy enough to be safe for dishwasher or microwave use.

It isn’t a bad haul for £24.99 and a nice release to coincide with the 30th anniversary, although the product listing seems to have since disappeared on the Nintendo UK Online Store.

For comparison’s sake, the Super Mario Box contained a Mario Classic Colours amiibo, an 8-bit Mario plush, a “Breaking Bricks since 1985” Mario t-shirt, and a free Mario Hat.
