CollectorVision Games has announced that Sydney Hunter and the Curse of the Mayan will release on Nintendo Switch this month.

This 8-bit action-adventure platformer has been created as a “love letter to the classics,” and sees you play as explorer Sydney Hunter who becomes trapped inside a Mayan pyramid.

He soon discovers that the Mayan sun god Kinich Ahau and feathered serpent god Kukulkan have broken up the sacred Mayan Haab calendar into seven separate pieces and taken four precious idols – hiding them throughout the pyramid.

That’s not all, as this has happened during Wayab – the five unluckiest days of the year. Time will freeze if the calendar isn’t restored, which sees Sydney set out to recover all seven pieces, reclaim the idols, and defeat the Mayan gods to restore peace and balance.

Sydney Hunter and the Curse of the Mayan will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on September 12th priced at £16.09 ($19.99).
