Arc System Works and White Owls Inc. have announced that The MISSING: J.J. Macfield and the Island of Memories will release on Nintendo Switch this week.
In this atmospheric puzzle platformer, you play as J.J., who, after her best friend Emily disappears, sets out to find her on the Island of Memories.
You cannot die on this nightmare island, even when you become seriously injured. Whenever J.J. nearly dies she is brought back from the grips of death, and constantly drags her mangled body deeper into the woods to discover the answer as to why Emily left in the first place.
“Hello, Nintendo fans! I’m Swery, the director of Deadly Premonition and D4. I’m excited to announce that my new studio’s first title, The Missing, is coming to Nintendo Switch on October 11th,” White Owls Inc. president and CEO Hidetake “Swery” Suehiro enthused in a special message.
“In fact, in the 20 years that I’ve been making games, this is my first game EVER to come to a Nintendo platform, and I am very excited about that. The Nintendo Switch is a GREAT system. Not only do I play at home, but I take it to play games even when I’m at an izakaya or a café.
“My entire studio loves it too, and can’t wait to play the games we’ve developed on the Nintendo Switch. We’re all excited for the release.
“Working with Arc System Works has allowed me to take on a great challenge. In addition to intriguing game mechanics, I layered the story in the way my fans know me for. The full game will reveal the entire story, which I’ve kept a mystery, and it will draw you right into the game’s world. This is because The MISSING is also your story.
