Nintendo are rewarding fans who grew up playing Super Smash Bros. Melee by releasing a GameCube controller adapter for Wii U.

This will allow Super Smash Bros. for Wii U to be played with up to four GameCube or WaveBird controllers, showering nostalgia on the experience while enabling fans to play with a control scheme that remains familiar.

Nintendo will also release a standalone, retro Super Smash Bros. GameCube controller, alongside a special bundle that will include a copy of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, a controller and an adapter.

These will launch alongside Super Smash Bros. for Wii U which will release this winter.
