Super Smash Bros. Ultimate VR Mode Lets You Battle It Out From A New Perspective

With the new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate update now live, we have had the chance to check out the new VR Mode that has been added to Games & More.

This mode requires the Toy-Con VR Goggles from the Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 04: VR Kit to play, and, as Nintendo has explained, is limited to offline battles with the Time ruleset – allowing for matches that last up to 10 minutes. However, Items and Final Smashes cannot be used.

Whether you choose to compete against three CPU players or want to spectate an all-CPU battle, using the Toy-Con VR Goggles allows you to freely move the camera from a fixed position. And, while not every stage is supported, some even let you turn your view 360 degrees to see parts of the stage that would otherwise remain hidden.

That can see you look behind the plane on the Pilotwings stage as it soars above Wuhu Island, along the track on the Spirit Train stage that’s inspired by The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, or down at Lumiose City from Prism Tower.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is now available for Nintendo Switch worldwide.
