We knew that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate had broken records in both Europe and the United States, but we can now learn just how many copies were sold in the mascot brawler’s launch month.

From the game’s release date on December 7th, 12.08 million copies were sold worldwide right up until the end of the year.

That not only means that the Nintendo Switch exclusive has outsold Super Smash Bros. for Wii U (5.35 million) and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS (9.45 million), but it has already become the third best-selling game for the portable home console behind Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (15.02 million) and Super Mario Odyssey (13.76 million).

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is now available exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide.
