Nintendo of America has revealed that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has already broken records, not only seeing the upcoming mascot brawler become the most pre-ordered – or best pre-selling – game in the series but also on Nintendo Switch.

This news comes after The Pokémon Company announced that Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon Let’s Go, Eevee! have sold three million copies in three days meaning that they could celebrate the highest first-week sales for any game on the portable home console. However, it sounds like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will soon outpace that success.

In recent weeks, Masahiro Sakurai has spoken about the unavoidable disappointment that many may have with the game and that all characters that will be made available as downloadable content have now been selected. But, leaks have started to emerge online after the game’s street date was broken.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide on December 7th.
