Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Custom Moves And Equipment Have Been Removed

Inkling Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Art

Nintendo has confirmed that Custom Moves have been removed in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, a feature that had been introduced in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.

It had allowed players to customise every character’s special moves once they had collected Custom Parts in Classic Mode, All-Star Mode, Smash Run and other modes.

With 74 playable characters in the upcoming mascot brawler on Nintendo Switch, it’s understandable that, with the unenviable challenge of balancing the roster, Custom Moves have been scrapped.

It was a Nintendo representative that confirmed to GameSpot that the feature had been removed, as has Equipment. These customisable items could be attached to a character to improve their attack, defense or speed. But, in many ways, we could say that they have been swapped out for Spirits.

The only character that will have Custom Moves is Mii Fighter, as you will have different options to choose from when creating a Mii Gunner, Mii Brawler or Mii Swordfighter.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide on December 7th.
