Earlier this year, Super Smash Bros. Melee won the EVO 2013 Charity Drive allowing it to become the eighth game to be included within this year’s Evo World Championship.
It drew in donations of $94,683, eclipsing that of competing games to help earn a total of $225,744 for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Yet the game’s inclusion has helped see a dramatic increase in competitors, reportedly seeing the event double in size compared to its most successful year.
A fair compliment to the GameCube classic, indeed.
