Super Smash Bros. Invitational tournie set for MCM Birmingham Comic Con

Original: This weekend’s MCM Birmingham Comic Con will play host to a Super Smash Bros. Invitational tournament, mercilessly pitting 32 players plucked from the Super Smash Bros. for Wii U community against one another.

Nintendo UK will stream the quarter and semi-finals live on Twitch from 2pm GMT on Saturday 21st March, with the grand finale taking place later that day at 4pm GMT. Those in attendance not competing can also join in the action with tournaments, trials and matches running alongside the main event.

Four-player trials will take place on Wii U and New Nintendo 3DS gaming pods, while comperes will randomly theme on-stage exhibition matches. There’ll also be an 8 player amiibo free-for-all tournament, with an amiibo team-up tournament lettings players use their trained amiibo to take on rivals.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate will also be available to play on New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL, with experts on hand providing live demonstrations and running “Learn to Hunt” sessions throughout the weekend event.

The Nintendo Official UK Store will also have a stand, with the welcome chance to secure limited edition merchandise and items. That will include the Nintendo 3DS XL Majora’s Mask 3D Edition, the GameCube Controller Super Smash Bros. Edition and the GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U.

Whereas available merchandise encompasses “a Super Smash Bros. Wii U bundle plus the Villager amiibo, the New Nintendo 3DS XL Majora’s Mask 3D Edition with Skull Kid figurine, amiibo bundles including Yoshi, Pikachu and Samus with a carry case and much more.”

The MCM Birmingham Comic Con event takes place from Saturday 21st – Sunday 22nd March 2015 at NEC Birmingham.
