With the Nintendo Network allowing for more scope with the new games, Super Smash Bros. series director Masahiro Sakurai has revealed that online multiplayer will be available within both Wii U and 3DS titles.

Further to this, he discussed the introduction of two modes for when you aren’t playing with your friends: “For Fun” and “For Glory”. When matchmaking in “For Glory”, only Final Destination stage variations will be available, with no platforms, elevated areas or items. Whereas “For Fun” sees all stages being picked randomly, with all items and power-ups appearing.

Then, whenever you play with friends, full customisation over the match rules, stages and items will be granted to you, with players also able to customise move sets – although more details will be shared at a later date.

Super Smash Bros. releases for 3DS this summer, and Wii U in winter.
