Super Mario theme recreated on ancient Chinese Sheng

YouTube is no stranger to fans paying homage to iconic melodies from their childhood, but none have proved as captivating as this latest discovery.

A young, talented student chose to recreate Koji Kondo’s iconic melody on the Sheng, one of the oldest Chinese instruments which has been dated as far back as 1100 BC, and it proves to be a nostalgia trip like no other.

Traditionally an accompaniment instrument, it is constructed with a varying number of either bamboo or metal pipes that amplify its sound, which is even capable of making the equally memorable coin collection and power-up sound effects.
