Super Mario Run is set to release in 150 countries worldwide next month, and Unity Technologies has today shared that Nintendo has developed the side-scrolling auto-runner using the Unity engine.

“Nintendo looked to Unity’s engine and development environment to make the game a fun, graphically beautiful experience worthy of the Mario franchise,” Unity Technologies shared in a press release as their Unite Los Angeles 2016 event gets underway.

The mobile game sees the portly Italian plumber run forward on his own, simply requiring players to use the touch of a single finger to jump over obstacles, avoid pesky enemies and capture the flag pole to complete levels.

Super Mario Run will release worldwide on iPhone and iPad in December, with an Android release at a later date.
