Given the rapturous response to Super Mario Maker‘s inclusion in the Nintendo World Championships 2015, it comes as a shame that players won’t be able to easily share their efforts in besting such devious courses.

Mario Kart 8 was the first to support it, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will shortly add it in the coming months and Art Academy: Atelier supports it in a novel way with time-lapse videos, but producer Takashi Tezuka has confirmed that the Wii U exclusive creation software won’t have a YouTube upload feature.

“We thought about having YouTube uploading, but it’s not in our game,” Tezuka shared with Game Informer. “The reason for that is other than just watching movies of courses, we’d rather players play them and experience them in that way.”

Super Mario Maker releases exclusively for Wii U in North America and Europe on August 11th.
