Super Mario Maker was the only Nintendo game given a nod at the 2016 D.I.C.E. Awards, seeing the Wii U exclusive win the Family Game of the Year category.
Fallout 4 was the big winner overall, which received the top honour in being crowned Game of the Year. Ori and the Blind Forest, Rocket League and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt were the other games that scored wins across multiple categories, with Star Wars Battlefront and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain similarly being praised.
A moment of reflection came when late Nintendo president Satoru Iwata was posthumously honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award, which was accepted by Reggie Fils-Aimé who once again paid tribute to his memory.
