Nintendo has shared more about the new Super Mario 3D World game style in Super Mario Maker 2, revealing that it will work differently to the other styles in the course creator.

“The way this game style works is very different from the other game styles, so the course you’re working on will clear if you toggle between them,” Nintendo explains. “That’s because there are things that you can do here that you can’t do in any other style.”

Some of those “things” have been revealed as features such as:
Cat Mario: Cat Mario can climb walls, scratch, slide and pounce on enemies. Players can even use Cat Mario to climb up the Goal Pole!
Clear Pipe: Clear Pipes can be placed in any shape the player wants, but they have to be careful, as enemies can also slide through them.
Koopa Troopa Car: Hop in this sweet ride and zoom through the course. Players just have to make sure not to crash!
Track Block: The Track Block will follow any path the player draws. The blue one starts moving when the player steps on it.
Piranha Creeper: The Piranha Creeper follows the path that the player draws, extending its dangerous spiky stem around the course.
Who’s Who in Super Mario 3D World?: A cast of other familiar faces will also make appearances in Super Mario Maker 2, so players are in for a treat!

In Super Mario Maker 2, you will once again have the chance to play, create and share your own courses, with access to even more tools, items, and features than in the original Super Mario Maker – which went on to sell more than four million copies worldwide on Wii U.

The game’s creation tools will let you surprise and frustrate other players around the world with your mischievous and devious designs, using visual styles from games such as Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, New Super Mario Bros. U, and Super Mario 3D World.

Super Mario Maker 2 will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide on June 28th.
