Super Mario Galaxy composer now working on Ocarina of Time 3D, Skyward Sword

Within the most recently released ‘Iwata Asks’ column, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata sat down with Koji Kondo and Mahito Yokota to discuss their compositional work across the company’s titles.

The central topic of discussion was the remastering of the soundtrack to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, although it is unclear as to how substantial a process this was until the translated column reaches the North American or European sites.

Kondo and Yokota further mention that their work revolved around adapting the soundtrack for the “surround sound” speakers of the Nintendo 3DS, so potentially the only optimisation was involved.

Further to this, Yakota is also working on the forthcoming The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, so hopefully we’ll be able to look forward to a fully orchestrated soundtrack for the Wii-bound title.
