Nintendo has confirmed that Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury will support Local Wireless Play.

This will let you play with up to four people by connecting with nearby Nintendo Switch (or Nintendo Switch Lite) consoles, with the chance for two people to play together on a single system.

As we already knew the game also supports Online Play, allowing up to four players to connect online. This will also let two people play locally on a single Nintendo Switch console, before joining up to two more players online.

The original Wii U game has been “enhanced” for the portable home console. Super Mario 3D World was the first 3D instalment to ever feature multiplayer, with players joining each other on a grand adventure that only the Mushroom Kingdom can provide, as Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and Toad – each with their own unique characteristics.

There are also new Cat Mario and Cat Peach amiibo figures that will be released at the same time as the game, with the previous Bowser and Bowser Jr. amiibo from the Super Smash Bros. Collection to be compatible with the Bowser’s Fury mode.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury will release at retail and on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 12th February 2021.
