Super Mario 3D Land is latest iOS clone victim

If a blatant Pokémon clone hadn’t proved enough of a concern, then 3D Cartoon Land: Safari most certainly has us shaking our heads in disbelief.

Apple have seen fit to approve the clear Super Mario 3D Land rip-off to be published on the App Store, currently available for $0.99 (£0.69).

“Very simply yet very addicting, this unique game requires you to quickly jump over obstacles and collect coins,” 3D Cartoon Land: Safari’s description reads. “But you are not secure in this beautiful cartoon world. An angry tortoise could bite you. An easy and smooth control makes it very funny and to jump or run.”

Yeah…

We’d prefer to interpret the angry tortoise as Nintendo’s legal team eager to take a chomp at developer Walnut JZ, whose website clearly shows where his inspiration is taken…

  1. Since Nintendo is ignoring the iOS market, someone has to bring something “like it”. Miyamoto and friends have to open their minds and accept that most players fit only on mobile devices such as iOS, Android and WP7. Future market is there.
