Super Leaf power-up revealed for Mario Kart 7

Nintendo of Europe have today announced that the Super Leaf will be a new addition to the arsenal of power-ups in Nintendo 3DS exclusive, Mario Kart 7.

Already known to return in Super Mario 3D Land, the Super Leaf previously appeared earlier in the series and allows Mario to slip into a cute, furry Tanooki Suit – granting him the ability to glide in mid-air as well as perform a tail attack. In Mario Kart 7, the Super Leaf will provide you with both offensive and defensive abilities – either allowing you to protect yourself from incoming shells, or to more aggressively whip your opponents off the track.

New characters like Metal Mario and Lakitu will also make an appearance, and players can even race as their Mii character. Ghost Data will also be allowed to be shared via StreetPass, or you can download Ghost Data through SpotPass to test your global karting skills.

Mario Kart 7 is due to release for Nintendo 3DS across Europe on December 2nd.
